TROY, Ill. - Joe H. Evans, 58, formerly of Olney, died at 4:30 p.m. March 21, 2004, at his daughter's home in Olney.

Born Aug. 5, 1945, in Glen Mary, Ala., son of the late Landy and Roberta Walker Evans, he was a sales representative for Goodyear Tire and Rubber company and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville.

On March 20, 1965, at Vanduser, Mo., he married Alice W. Ashcraft who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kym and Darin Houchin of Olney; one brother, Richard Evans of Sikeston, Mo.; five sisters, Lois Young of Jenks, Okla., Mary Robbins of Maben, Miss., Betty Willis of Friendsville, Tenn., Billy Stacey of Milstadt and Elsie Stacey of Cahokia; and two grandchildren, Troy Houchin and Baylie Houchin of Olney.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Fred Winters, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Maryville, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Jim Leahr, Paul Long, Terry Mertz, Larry Hawk, Dick Lindstrom and Mike Schomber.
