SIKESTON - Sikeston native Kelly Smith has returned home to begin her practice as a doctor of veterinary medicine.

In June, Smith became an associate at the Delta Veterinary Clinic, 603 Brunt Blvd., working with Dr. David M. Morris.

Explaining she has always wanted to be a veterinarian, Smith completed her undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau earning a bachelor in animal science in agriculture degree. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where she earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine, graduating in May.

"I'm glad to be back in Sikeston and am enjoying the work a lot," said Smith, who specializes in small animal care. "This is home and here I can treat the animals of my family and friends."

The daughter of Jimmy and Mary Pearson of Sikeston, Smith and her husband, Chris, are the parents of an 18-month-old daughter, Haley.

Delta Veterinary Clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. There is also 24-hour emergency care available through the clinic.
