SIKESTON - Elmer "Moe" Gray, 79, died March 16, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 14, 1927, in Sikeston, to the late John and Millie Gray, he worked as a farm laborer and later as a mechanic at 76 Truck Stop in Matthews, from which he retired in 1992.
On Dec. 22, 1984, he married Bobbie Riggins, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: four sons, Robert (Ramona) Gray of Fort Worth, Texas, Leroy (Popeye) Gray of Phenix City, Ala., Willie Ross of Milwaukee and Vernon (Gloria) Gray of Lilbourn; six daughters, Pearlene (Richard) Fears of Plainfields, Ill., Barbara Ann Riggins, Sharon (Wayne) Burgess and Felicia Riggins of New Madrid, Shelia (Brain) Riggins of Memphis, Tenn. and Joyce (Andrew Sr.) Bell of Decatur, Ill.; three brothers, Ellis Gray of Portageville, Edward "Wit" Gray of New Madrid and Richard "Buck" Anderson of Howardville; three sisters, Bernice "Big Mama" Thomas of Lilbourn, Marie Woods of Elgin, Ill. and Rachel Givens of South Bend, Ill.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two special friends, Andrew Thomas and Charlie Simpson.
He was preceded in death by two sons and two daughters.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. The Rev. Charles Bell and the Rev. Andrew Bell Jr. will officiate.
Burial will follow in Simmons Park in Catron.
Pallbearers will be: Dijuan Waters, Bryan Waters, Sevuan Waters, J.J. Sanders, Ray Wheeler and Brian Willie Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Leroy Gray, Robert Gray, Vernon Gray, Richard Fears and Michael Bell.
