DEXTER - Mabel E. George, 89, died Sept. 30, 2004, at the Crowley Ridge Care Center.

Born March 22, 1915, in Winston County, Miss., daughter of the late William Steven and Nannie Farish Clay, she lived in Ravenden Springs, Ark., for 20 years, where she was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and returned to Dexter in 1989. She was of the Methodist belief.

On Oct. 19, 1939, at Parma, she married Andrew "Boots" George who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1994.

Survivors include: three brothers, Ansel Clay of Dexter, Brooks Clay of Milledgeville, Ga., and Welton Clay of Inverness, Fla.; and three sisters, Imogene Sims and Rosemary Roberts of Dexter and Margaret Bailey of Milledgeville.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
