James Simpson
SIKESTON - James C. Simpson Jr., 58, formerly of Mississippi County, died at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 30, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born March 26, 1946, in Diehlstadt, son of Beulah D. Poley Everly of Charleston and the late James C. Simpson Sr., he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam war and member of Sikeston Eagles Aerie 3319. He was of the Baptist belief.
On Feb. 10, 1968, at Charleston, he married Ruth A. Jones who survives of the home.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two daughters, Donna Hood of Sikeston and Sharron Hunsperger of Wyatt; one brother, Donald Poley of Wyatt; and four grandchildren, Chelsea Hood and Kimberly Hood of Sikeston, Jaidyn Hunsperger of Wyatt and James R. Simpson of the home.
His stepfather, Charlie R. Everly, preceded him in death.
Visitation begins at 7 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bob Burnes of Sikeston will officiate.
The Missouri Veterans Funeral Honors Program will conduct graveside military rites at the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
