I just came by the Math and Science Center and noticed there was a cabinet company from St. Louis there doing some work. I was just wondering, on the initial bid of the cabinets that were supplied, did that come from a local source or were they submitted to outside areas in St. Louis and areas like that? Shouldn't we keep our city tax dollars for our school taxes and keep them in the community for community businesses rather than St. Louis? Realistically, if you have a bid it goes out and around. I don't ever remember seeing anything ever put out for submission for anyone that's in the cabinet business in this area. I've talked to several of the guys and they were never given the opportunity. I'm just kind of wondering about that.
Sikeston R-6 Superintendent Steve Borgsmiller said the Board of Education has complied with all rules and regulations set forth not only in local policies but state statutes in regard to soliciting bids for the district. One example of this is advertising bid notices in local newspapers such as the Standard Democrat. This particular bid was awarded in the fall and was for additional casework in the Math and Science Center. Borgsmiller encouraged anyone who has inquiries about the district to contact him at the board office at 472-2581.
I'm calling this to the superintendent and the people in the school system. This year my personal taxes, I paid $300 for school. On my real estate, I paid $500, which is a total of $800. I think this is ridiculous when I'm in my early 60s and my husband is retired. But my main comment is that my grandson, I have one grandson in the school system that goes to Morehouse Elementary. It has great teachers, a great principal and it's a nice school. They do nothing to keep that school up. They look at it, the superintendent and school people, look at it as a lower-class school for lower-class people. Anything that goes wrong with it, they don't fix. They do the elementary, middle school and high school in Sikeston. I don't like to pay $800 in school taxes and see Morehouse School go to hell in a hand basket. There's really nice people that go to Morehouse.
Does anyone know Barack Hussein O'Bama? Barack does not like to be called Hussein. He was born in Hawaii, to a black Muslim and an atheist white woman from Wichita, Kan. He also will not say the pledge of allegiance, nor was he sworn into his Senate seat with a Bible. He was sworn in by the Koran. Check this out on the computer at snopes.com.
In reference to Biased bonus about the workers in the school system not getting a bonus, and the teachers actually did get a bonus. I've been a teacher for 28 years in a local school system, and I've never received a bonus. You might be working in a school system where this type of action is qualified by the school board. I think it's probably up to the individual Board of Education. Possibly you should take your gripes to them. Personally, in this area, the Bootheel, I think you would just be happy to have a job.
