Edna Ranson
BENTON - Edna Mae Ranson, 84, died June 28, 2003, at the Bethesda Southgate Nursing Facility in St. Louis.
Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Barlow, N.D., to the late Eltjo and Jennie DeLang Buss, she was a teacher at Shawnee and Anna-Jonesboro high schools. A member of the St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, she also was a member of the Ladies 99 Pilot Association in Cape Girardeau, Army of Mary and Family of Sons and Daughters of Mary.
On Oct. 17, 1938, in Fargo, N.D., she married Leonard Nicholas Ranson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1983. She was also preceded in death by one son, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include: three sons, Paul Ranson of Greenville, Ill., David Ranson of Memphis, Tenn., and Dan Ranson of St. Louis; two daughters, Lenna Elder of Owensboro, Ky., and Mary Bruner of St. Louis; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton where parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Denis Catholic Church with concelebrants Rev. Normand Varone and Peter Hsu presiding.
Burial will follow in the St. Denis Cemetery.
