Eleanor Ehlebracht
BERTRAND - Eleanor R. Ehlebracht, 87, formerly of Cape Girardeau, Raytown and Independence, died June 21, 2003, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.
Born Nov. 19, 1915, at Higginsville, daughter of the late Martin and Martha Meyer Wegener, she was a graduate of Higginsville High School and the Independence School of Hairdressing. Before retiring, she had been a self-employed hairdresser and was a clerk at Emery Bird Thayer Department Store in Independence. Mrs. Harry S. Truman was one of her patrons. Eleanor thoroughly enjoyed her home, gardening and cooking. She loved to travel to Colorado and visit relatives in Arizona.
Survivors include: one son, Charles S. Ehlebracht of Gladstone; one daughter, Harriett Heumann of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Norman Wegener of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harold Wegener of LaMesa, Calif.; two sisters, Frances Klussman and Margaret Landwehr of Higginsville; two grandchildren, Lily A. Ehlebracht of Gladstone and Jennifer L. Birk of Charleston; and three great-grandchildren, Rachel Birk, Caleb Birk and Aaron Birk of Charleston.
Two brothers, Vernon Wegener and Charles Wegener, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Higginsville.
Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Harrisonville.
Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel of Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
