BENTON -- A Sikeston man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for selling crack.

Nicholas McClinton, 21, pled guilty to a felony drug sale of crack cocaine on Brawley Street that occurred April 10. The drug deal was made with a confidential informant working with Sikeston Detective Chris Rataj.

As the sale was within 2,000 feet of a school -- the Sikeston Fifth Grade Center -- the charge is a class A felony that carries a minimum sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison.

McClinton was already on probation for felony possession of a controlled substance from 2004. Circuit Judge David Dolan revoked that sentence to run it concurrent with the new 10-year sentence for sales.
