SIKESTON - Mrs J.S. Kevil entertained with a tea Friday afternoon in honor of Mrs. Wallace Applegate of Denver, Colo., who is visiting Cape Girardeau and Sikeston during the holidays.

SIKESTON - An executive committee for the Connie Mack Regional Tournament to be played in Sikeston next August was named today. A fund-

raising banquet is planned for January.

NEW MADRID - With full operation scheduled to begin in December, Kon-Tek Industries is nearing completion. Work on an overhead crane is progressing rapidly. The new industry located on Highway U in New Madrid, constructs buildings for the telecommunications industry. It will employ approximately 80 people.

MINER - The City of Miner donated money to the Sikeston Rescue Squad Wednesday to help it purchase new equipment. Miner Mayor Bill James presented the $1,000 check to Rescue Squad President Drew Juden at City Hall.

CHAFFEE - After 30 years of service to the First Midwest Bank of Chaffee, kathy Bishop will retire on Nov. 28. A reception will be held in her honor.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Welborn of Sikeston were honored with a 50th wedding anniversary dinner by their daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Terry Ottinger on Oct. 30.

BLOOMFIELD - Investigation is continuing by the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department on a burglary that occurred sometime Saturday. Perpetrators entered a residence located on County Road 783 and took several guns, jewelry and miscellaneous items.
