Violet V. Strebler
CHAFFEE -- Violet V. Strebler, 88, died at 5:55 p.m. Nov. 22, 2007, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 22, 1919, at Chaonia, Mo., daughter of the late Jeff Lloyd and Annie Delilah Rievley Morgan, she owned and operated a tavern in Chaffee. She opened the Toddle Inn in the early 1930s and sold it in the mid 1950s. A member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, she was a member of the Daughters of St. Ambrose, the Chaffee V.F.W. 3127 Auxiliary, the Chaffee American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered for the Chaffee Nutrition Program.
On March 27, 1937, she married C.A. "Shorty" Strebler who preceded her in death on May 15, 1975.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Danny J. and Brenda Strebler of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Nicole Altamirano of Marietta, Ga., and Matthew Morgan Strebler of Las Vegas; four great-grandchildren, Madison Altamirano and Marcellus Altamirano of Marietta and Caleb Strebler and Hunter Strebler of Las Vegas; two nephews, Arthur R. Morse of St. Charles and Scott Sutterfield of Tallahassee, Fla.; and one niece, Bonnie Baird of Ft. Collins, Colo.
Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 until time for services at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph Duffner will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
Arrangements are by the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
