Alfred Burton
SIKESTON -- Alfred Merrill Burton, 63, died at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 11, 2004, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born Sept. 17, 1941, in Elaine, Ark., son of the late Louie and Ruby Burton, he had worked as a road construction heavy equipment operator, a farmer and a handyman for Otis Morris. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston.
On Aug. 6, 1963, in Sikeston, he married Barbara J. McClellan who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jody Burton of Sikeston and David and Veneca Burton of Cape Girardeau; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Harold Winkler of Sikeston; one brother, Charles Lynn Burton of St. Joseph; two sisters, Linda King of Boston, Mass., and Nettie Jean Wallace of Cape Girardeau; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Lawrence Burton, in 1966; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time for services at 1 p.m. at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Pat Hogan and Johnny Hester, ministers of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Burton, David Burton, Harold Winkler, Eric Coffer, Justin Winkler and Clinton Burton.
