SIKESTON - Mr. Keith Collins underwent an emergency appendectomy at the Sikeston General Hospital.
KEWANEE - The Water Treatment plant placed in operation last month at Kewanee has been given official approval by the state health department and is now in service. It serves 150 households with 600 persons over a 16-mile area. The water tower is 122 feet high with a tank capacity of 30,000 gallons.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Park Board discussed improvements to Malone Park and agreed to recommend the addition of two soccer fields at the Sikeston Sports Complex during its Monday afternoon meeting.
CHARLESTON - More than 140 jobs will be lost when De-Sta-Co Manufacturing closes its facility in Charleston. Operations at the Charleston plant, in existence since 1976, will move to the De-Sta-Co facilities in Arkansas. Employees were notified Wednesday of the plant's closing and lay-
offs. Lay-offs will start Dec. 12.
