SIKESTON - H.A. Bach has purchased a home at 630 Vernon St. from J.A. Treines. Mr. and Mrs. Bach and son will move there June 1.

CHARLESTON - Eddie Graham won the 400-yard-dash in the Missouri State Class A track meet Saturday. His time was 48.8, narrowly beating Andrew Harris of St. Louis McKinley.

The Women's Division Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce awarded the 1984 Teacher of the Year Award Wednesday at the Sikeston Community Teacher Association meeting to Sally Neel, a fifth grade teacher at Southwest Elementary School.

SIKESTON - Stephen W. Sikes, who has served on the board of trustees at Missouri Delta Medical Center since 1982, was among five Missourians to receive "Excellence in Governance" awards during the annual Missouri Hospital Association Administrative/Trustee Forum. Sikes received a plaque recognizing him for his commitment to Missouri Delta Medical Center.


SIKESTON - After a lethargic performance on Monday, the Bulldogs came out fired up, made some fielding mistakes, but pounded Notre Dame 6-2.


NEW MADRID - Clement Cravens was sworn in as the new Ward 1 councilman for the City of New Madrid during a special meeting Wednesday. Cravens, publisher of the newspaper, The Weekly Record, was selected to fill the vacancy left when Councilman Larry Rost was elected mayor. City Clerk Shelby Desmore administered the oath of office to Cravens.
