EAST PRAIRIE - The Community Service Award, presented monthly by East Prairie Mayor Kevin Mainord, was presented Thursday evening to the Mississippi County Ambulance Service in appreciation for the dedicated service provided to the citizens of the county. Accepting the plaque on behalf of the service was Supervisor Larry Lynxwiler.

SIKESTON - Dr. Bill W. Stacy, president of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, will be guest speaker at the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon scheduled at noon Thursday at the Holiday Inn.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston 10 and 14-year old Little League and Junior Babe Ruth baseball coaches, along with members of the Elks, presented trophies and plaques to their state winning Sikeston teams at the Elks recently. Sikeston's 10-year old team, Sikeston Red, finished the season undefeated, winning the Missouri state title. Sikeston's 14-year old All-Star team won the state title and contended for the regional title in Morehead, Minn.

WAYNESVILLE - Army Pvt. Anthony K. Bilderback has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood. A 1981 graduate of New Madrid County Central High School, he is the brother of Cathy A. Jackson of Matthews.

SIKESTON - Shameka Perkins, a 1992 graduate of Sikeston Senior High School, was one of the valedictorians at the Metro Business College graduation ceremonies conducted Sept. 2 at the Drury Inn in Cape Girardeau. Her major was executive administrative assistant.
