ORAN The Travelers, the singing and instrumental group from Sikeston, won the talent contest at the Oran homecoming.
SIKESTON - Gold Bond Ice Cream Inc. announced plans Tuesday afternoon to expand its Sikeston plant for the fourth time in five years. The expansion should result in as many as 70 additional jobs for the community. Roy Jones, plant manager, who made the announcement said the expansion will add approximately 11,000 square feet and will include additional warehouse and increased production capacity.

CHARLESTON - The Missouri Jaycees announced recently that Junior Delay of Charleston, district director for Region 8, has been honored as the top district director in the state. Delay, a member of the Charleston Jaycees, is responsible for chapters in Charleston, East Prairie, Benton and Matthews.
BENTON - Terry Herndon, superintendent of the Scott County Highway Department, is very proud of the work that has been completed by his department. Since January, he reports two bridges have been completed and anticipates two more will be finished by the end of the year with a fifth that should be started.

SIKESTON - John E. Harper recently was honored by the Sikeston Lions Club with the Melvin Jones Award. The award is the highest honor a Lion member can achieve. He was presented his award by Tom Frasher, president of the Lions.
