MARION, Ill. - The Rev. David Brinkman, 58, died May 26, 2005, at his home.

Born Aug. 29, 1946, in Indianapolis, son of Ritta Elizabeth Stafford Brinkman of Sikeston, Mo., and Marvin Roy Brinkman, who died in 1996, he served with the U.S. Army from 1967-70 and was a Vietnam War veteran. A 1965 graduate of North Central High School in Indianapolis, he was also a graduate of George Washington University in Wheaton and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago. He had served as pastor of the Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion for 11 1/2 years.

On June 14, 1969, in Indianapolis, he married Gwen Wilfong who survives of the home.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Lori Cooley of Johnston City and Christi LeAnne and Rick Kilman of Pittsburg; one sister, Bonnie Stewart of Sikeston; one brother, Alan Brinkman of Indianapolis; and seven grandchildren.

Services were conducted Monday at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Merideth Wilfong officiating.
