PUXICO - Cecil A. "Jake" McGowen, 74, died Aug. 25, 2005, at his home in Puxico.

Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Dudley, son of the late William Andrew and Mezella Jane Craft McGowen, he was a resident of Puxico, where he attended the Hobbs Chapel Church, his entire life.

On Feb. 24, 1951, in Clay County, Ark., he married Helen Maxine Clark who preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1999.

Also six brothers, Lewis McGowen, Thomas McGowen, Everett McGowen, Elvis McGowen, Elmer McGowen and Hubert McGowen, and two sisters, Lila Midgett and Ethel Hobbs, preceded him in death.

Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Dean and Carol McGowen of Puxico; one grandson, Steven McGowen of Puxico; and four great-

grandchildren, Brooklynn McGowen, Jakob McGowen, Corbin McGowen and "Opie" Taylor Griffin of Puxico.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Amos Dees of Wappapello will officiate.

Burial will be in the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery near Puxico.
