CAIRO, Ill. - Sara Guetterman, 84, died Feb. 24, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 31, 1921, in Cairo, daughter of the late Alex and Mary Farah Johnson, she had worked at McKesson and Robbins. In 1946, she and her husband owned and operated Jack Guetterman Grocery for 22 years before purchasing the Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership in Cairo. She served as President of Guetterman Motors and received numerous "Excellence Awards" in Customer Service, was an active member of Cairo First Presbyterian Church, the Syrian-American Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
In 1945, she married Jack Guetterman who preceded her in death.
One sister, Alice, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jack C. Guetterman Jr. and John and Sandra Guetterman of Cairo; three brothers, George E. Johnson and Alex Johnson Jr. of Cairo, and Johnny Johnson of Tarpin Springs, Fla.; two sisters, Rose Nasser and Dorothy Johnson of Cairo; and two grandchildren and one stepgrandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. today at the Cairo First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kelly Cox and Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating.
Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
