SIKESTON - Thelma Lucy, 91, of Sikeston and formerly of Kewanee, passed from this life at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007.
She was born Oct. 7, 1916, in Rombauer, daughter of Robert Elijah and Nancy McGowan Emerson.
On Oct. 23, 1936, she married Leroy "Ted" Lucy in Kennett. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1993.
She was a member for 36 years at Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church and for decades prior to that at Canalou Baptist Church. She was retired from the Sikeston Regional Center.
She is survived by their 11 children: Donald "Ben" (Linda) Lucy of Statesville, N.C.; Nancy (J.W.) Hurley of Dandridge, Tenn., Robert "Bo" (Pat) Lucy of Clover, S.C., Anita "Dees" (Dennis) Boen of Orlando, Fla., Leroy (Stella) Lucy Jr. of Robertsville; JoAnn (Glenn) Lewis of Lilbourn, Richard (Brenda) Lucy of Clarksville, Tenn., the Rev. Mary (Robert) McCord of Sikeston, James (Debby) Lucy of Jacksonville, Fla., Roberta Lucy of Sikeston and Kenneth (Pam) Lucy of Jackson. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her sister, Bulah McConnaughay of Paragould, Ark., also survives.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter and two great-grandsons, as well as six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church with Elder Tom McCanless, pastor, and Elder Richard Britt officiating.
Interment followed at Mounds Cemetery near Lilbourn.
Pallbearers were her sons, Ben Lucy, Bo Lucy, Leroy Lucy, Richard Lucy, James Lucy and Kenny Lucy.
Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston was in charge of arrangements.
