NEW MADRID - Lorene Higgerson, 76, died June 26, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 24, 1929, in the LaForge Community of New Madrid County, the daughter of Pearl Holden McRoy and Newt McRoy, Lorene worked as a teacher in the Higgerson School, a teacher's aide in the New Madrid County Schools, a worker with the meals-on-wheels program and a tour guide with the New Madrid Historical Museum.
On Jan. 14, 1950, at LaForge, she married Wesley "Bub" Higgerson, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by: two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Debbie Higgerson and Danny Higgerson Sr. of New Madrid; one daughter and son-
in-law, Mary Jane and Dan Fieser of Jackson; two sisters, Pearline Farrell of Morehouse and Virginia Luhn of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Andy Higgerson and Thomas Higgerson of New Madrid, Danny Joe Higgerson Jr. and Megan Smith of Sikeston and Hallie and Abbie Fieser of Jackson; and one special friend, Sharon Young of New Madrid.
In addition to her husband, two brothers, one sister and one great-
granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Richards Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Tom McCanless will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
