SIKESTON - Clarence W. Crumpecker, 307 Circle Drive, a sophomore at Missouri University, has been promoted to Cadet Sergeant in the ROTC Unit. Approximately 250 University of Missouri ROTC students have been promoted, Col. James R. Johnson, professor of military science and department chairman, has announced.

SIKESTON - Wilma Crowley has kept her love for exercise alive and created a new challenge for her favorite pastime. Mrs. Crowley, who is 44 years old and the mother of two, says that body building is a good sport for those of all ages. "I am the first Sikeston woman to be competitive builder," she said. Mr. Crowley won a first place trophy in the Purchase Classic, a body building contest held Saturday in Mayfield, Ky. She competed against six other women, some who were half her age.

SIKESTON - Sikeston will be represented at the State Junior Academy of Science competition at Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville. Earning first place in their division were Rebecca Throop, Annette Higdon, Kevin Lankheit, Stephen Stricker, Brad Kiesling and Todd Anthony.

NEW MADRID - The Citizens for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has announced Phillip A. Pfuehler of New Madrid as the recipient of a Citizen of the Year award. Pfuehler was chosen because of a dedication to the efforts to preserve the right of the people to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, according to committee officials.
