SIKESTON - Lee's Hardware on Front Street, owned an operated for more than two years by C.L. Parker, was sold this week to John Sikes of the Sikes Hardware Co. and Leonard Coates, an employee of that company.

Elon Proffer, Matthews, was re-elected to his 28th term as REA president and Earnest Moxley, Charleston, and Alwin Glaser were re-elected vice president and secretary respectively.

recreational complex for Sikeston was the main topic of discussion at a meeting of the steering committee for the complex Thursday night. The committee met to prepare their proposal scheduled to be presented Monday night to the City Council.
SIKESTON - Blake Ledbetter of Sikeston High School and Page Owens of East Prairie High both have been named first team all-state for the past high school campaign. The honors were announced today by the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. Both catchers also play summer ball for the Sikeston American Legion baseball team.

EAST PRAIRIE - Members of the recently organized East Prairie Garden Club showed their "brown thumbs" as they labored to weed, clean and prune at the gazebo downtown. Janice Brewer, Nancy Byrd and Henrietta Hubbard were among the workers assisting the Pride in the Prairie beautification committee in its projects by supplying the "womanpower."
