SIKESTON - The Travelers, a folk singing group of high school students, won first place in the Junior Women's Club first talent and variety show held at 8 p.m. last night at the Junior High School auditorium.

SIKESTON - Sikeston will be the first area to receive direct benefits from Hands Across America's food distribution, according to an announcement made during a Monday afternoon press conference at the Chamber of Commerce office. The distribution of food supply items to victims of last week's storm-ravaged area is slated to begin at 10 a.m. at the Chamber office Wednesday. Seventeen tons of supplies will be available.

SIKESTON - Jessica HeiRonimus and Kelly Moss, juniors at Sikeston Senior High School, were chosen by the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary to attend Missouri Girls State. It will be held at William Woods University in Fulton through the week of June 16-20.

SIKESTON - There will be little time for Jennifer Cowan and Jill Schetter to sit back and relax. The two Southeast Missouri State University grads, students in the university's dietetics program, have been selected for internships in Illinois and Tennessee.
