Simmons takes first at drag strip
SIKESTON -- Ron Simmons of Cape Girardeau won the feature race, the Super Pro, at the Sikeston Drag Strip on Saturday.
Simmons ran an elapsed time of 6.009 seconds with a dial-in of 6.001 at 113.89 mph with a reaction time of .564.
Cecil Whitaker of Dexter was the runner-up in the Super Pro class with an elapsed time of 4.933 (4.91 dial-in). He averaged 135.25 mph with a reaction time of .549.
In the Pro division, Greg Harty of Puxico took the checkered flag with an E.T. of 6.444 with a dial-in of 6.44 at 105.43 mph and a reaction time of .504.
Bear Nichols of Kevil, Ken., finished second with an E.T. of 6.570 (6.57 dial-
in) at 102.99 mph with a reaction time of .513.
Justin Harper of East Prairie captured the ET division with an E.T. of 7.772 (7.77 dial-in) at 86.92 mph and a .607 reaction time.
Stanley Byrd of Bertrand took second in the ET division with an E.T. of 7.631 (7.64 dial-in) while averaging 89.46 mph with a reaction time .621.
