SIKESTON -- Ray Eugene Payne, 56, died March 21, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. SIKESTON -- Ray Eugene Payne, 56, died March 21, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 21, 1949, in Sikeston, son of the late Orville Ray Payne and Evelyn Loretta Jordan Howard, he was a member of the New Life Fellowship in New Madrid. He had been pastor of the Community Church of God, a truck loader for Malone and Hyde and a machine serviceman for Burch Foods before retiring.

On May 21, 1966, he married Glenda Fay Jenkins who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Ray "Mike" and Julie Payne of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Jedidiah Daniel "Jed" and Leanne Payne of Royal Air Force Base in Lakenheath, England; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Kay and Scott Sutton and Wendy Renae and Wesley Jones of Sikeston; three brothers, Lee Payne of Bloomfield, Randy Payne of Chaffee and Tim Payne of Sikeston; three sisters, Loretta Holland of Ypsilanti, Mich., Robin Hayes of Malden and Alethea Roper of Sikeston; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One sister, Beverly Payne, preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Scott Sutton, pastor of New Life Fellowship in New Madrid, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
