Speakout 3/5
I'm calling in reference to Tell me why. I also work and need dental work and can't afford it. I have had some toothaches that have had me in tears. You applaud Governor Blunt. I bet he has dental coverage - and who do you think pays for it - the taxpayers. I don't smile either. I think it's sad that I have to be embarrassed to smile when I pay my taxes, work and have even served my country.
Mike, I would like to speak out about the young man that was shot down and killed by his parole officer. I think it's a shame. A young man that was trying to get his education, trying to get back on track. Wasn't there an alternative to killing the young man? More people should think about this and think about his family.
I realize that we have some major issues in this country as far as Medicaid, gay rights and all this other stuff. But whatever happened to peace, love and happiness? If people would just calm down, sit down and think about what they're doing. Life, liberty and justice for all and all that stuff. This world could be a better place. Love, don't hate. Peace, not war.
Did I meet you at Woodstock?
If Barack Osama, sorry, Obama should win this election, wonder who he would choose as vice president? Would that be O.J. Simpson, Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson? I am a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat and have never voted for a Republican. But I am not voting for Osama Obama. He never speaks of what he wants to accomplish for our burdened country- just he wants change. What kind of change Osama, sorry, Obama. Big flashy cars. Oh yeah! Mrs. Clinton is a very intelligent woman - speaks of health care, this sorry economy we have, child care, jobs, bringing change in health coverage, making companies accountable for their products and exaggerated cost of medications, doctor costs, etc. Food prices so high and going up every day. All for the love of money. Paying my bills is hard to do, but here are so many, many worse off than I. How do poor people buy food for their children, clothes for their children, health care? They can't - not at the cost of things. God help us.
Sikeston Public Schools sells Bailey Building and the 2.67 acres of land it sets on for $25,000. I don't understand why Sikeston keeps destroying it's historical landmarks. When I visit every year it seems something is torn down by the wrecking ball. At the pace the city officials are going there will not be a downtown. Why would you blacktop over the beautiful red bricks that is part of Sikeston's history downtown? Now you have realized it was a mistake, and how many thousands of dollars at the tax payers' expense is that going to cost? Who was the genius that made that decision? If I were a Sikeston resident I would want to know why the school board sold the land so cheap.
I'd just like to say I was in court at Benton on a sexual molestation case. What I noticed was four local business owners in support of the man that was convicted for two counts of deviate sexual intercourse with two children (girls) under the age of 14. I found that this was odd that all these prominent business owners have children and they are proudly supporting a man that was convicted of deviant sexual intercourse.
