Cookie sales to fight hunger

SIKESTON -- Ruby Tuesday has launched "Cookies for a Cause -- A Dozen Ways to Help Fight Hunger" to benefit the Bootheel Food Bank.

Part of an ongoing campaign by Ruby Tuesday, Inc., 10 percent of sales of the restaurant's gourmet chocolate chip and white-chocolate and macadamia-nut cookies sold by the dozen will be donated to the Bootheel Food Bank. There is a Ruby Tuesday in Sikeston.

"We are thrilled that Ruby Tuesday's will be raising funds to help us in our efforts to fed thousands of Southeast Missourians who rely on our Bootheel Food Bank for emergency food assistance," said Karen Green, executive director of the food bank. "We are particularly grateful that they intend to make this an ongoing fundraising effort that will help at-risk Americans in the long-term."

Information about the program will be printed on Ruby Tuesday's take-out and catering menus, as well as on cookie boxes, to create guest awareness and encourage purchases.
