CHAFFEE - Marion G. Scheffer, 51, died at 7 p.m. May 14, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 20, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Lawrence Edward and Adella Marie Heisserer Scheffer, he worked at the Scott County Sheltered Workshop in Sikeston and was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. He was an avid lifetime Chaffee football and baseball fan and he also loved the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. He enjoyed fishing and loved to be around his family and friends.

Survivors include: five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Fred and Margaret Scheffer of Hermann, Michael and Donna Scheffer and Joe and Alanna Scheffer of Cabot, Ark., Patrick Scheffer of Chaffee and Martin and Sue Scheffer of Randles; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice and Stuart Mashek of Scott City, Carolyn and Glen Crites of Chaffee and Theresa and Danny Simpher of New Hamburg; 23 nieces and nephews; and 32 great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers, Leonard Scheffer and Paul Scheffer; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Scheffer; and one nephew, Richard Mashek.

Visitation is at 4 p.m. today, with parish prayers to be held at 6 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee. The Rev. Ralph Duffner will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery near Charleston.
