foot water main that will bring water service and fire protection to Chaney and Matthews additions.
NEW MADRID - New Madrid County's 19th annual 4-H Club Charter Night program was held last night at the high school gymnasium with several hundred paying tribute to the young people, their leaders and clubs for work during the past year.
SIKESTON - Attorney General William L. Webster will be the guest speaker at the Scott County Young Republicans annual Lincoln Day Dinner on March 13. The dinner will begin at 7 p.m. at the Ramada Inn. Prior to the dinner a reception will be conducted at the house of Dr. and Mrs. John L. Doggett. Webster, 31 at the time of his election on Nov. 6, 1984, is the youngest attorney general to serve Missouri since 1892.
SIKESTON - Someone went on a burglary/vandalism spree over the weekend, damaging several newspaper machines owned by the Standard-Democrat. According to DPS, the machine at the River Birch Mall was broken into and the change box with approximately $13 in change was missing. The machine in front of Jay's Fried Chicken was also damaged and $10 was missing. Two other machines were also vandalized when the Short Stop machine had the hasp, lock and bar broken and $15 removed. The largest amount taken was from the machine in front of Quick Check with approximately $50 missing.

SIKESTON - The Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center Telethon will kick off with the annual "Dinner with the Stars" at 6 p.m. Friday at the Sikeston Eagles Club. Tickets are $100 per couple. Telethon organizers expect this year's telethon to be an even bigger success than last year.
