DEXTER - Dedication of a new section of Highway 25 between Dexter and Bloomfield, to be designated the "Warren E. Hearnes Parkway," will take place next Wednesday. Gov. Hearnes will officially open the new six-mile section of four-lane highway by cutting a ribbon at both ends of the new section.
SIKESTON - The five group homes adjacent to the Sikeston Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled on Plaza Drive are near completion and will be available for occupants by the first of December. The homes will house 40 occupants and bring employment to over 100 people.

CHAFFEE - Residents will cast ballots Tuesday to determine if the city will have a new water supply. Votes in the revenue bond election will be cast at the American Legion Hall. Tuesday's election is seeking approval for the city's share of the matching grant.
CAPE GIRARDEAU - Friends of U.S. Representative Bill Emerson say he will fight his recently diagnosed lung cancer the way he fights for constituents and issues: head-on with a positive attitude. The eight-term Republican from Southeast Missouri's 8th District disclosed Wednesday that he has lung cancer and plans to begin a series of treatments Friday at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
