SIKESTON - Clay Stubbs, former Sikeston resident, died last Friday in a hospital in San Diego, Calif., where he had been receiving treatment for three months for carcinoma.
SIKESTON - Norman Spitzmiller of Sikeston was elected president of the Southeast Missouri Chapter of Certified Public Accountants last night in the organization's annual meeting held at Poplar Bluff. Also elected were Jerry Schwab, treasurer; William Stewart, secretary; and Robert Hearnes, vice president.

SIKESTON - Tonight will feature the largest graduating class of Sikeston High School to march down the aisle. There are 254 seniors who will receive diplomas for their 12 long years through elementary and senior grades. Valedictorian is Gale Skalsky and salutatorian is Ronald Summers.

SIKESTON - Though none of the soldiers fell as casualties to the volleys being fired in the recreation of the siege of New Madrid Saturday and Sunday, the heat did take its toll on a few. Despite the warm weather, the battles were loudly recreated and enthusiastically received by the crowds who watched them.
EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie 4 X 100 dream team made up of seniors Jason Aycock, Rocket Porter, Chris Johnson and Jeremy Mitchell finished in first place in the Class 2A State Meet with a time of 44.3 seconds, just a hair ahead of Pembrook Hill. "These guys are exceptional," said Bernard Ivie, coach. "They've started a strong tradition here and maybe helped the school develop a little pride."

SIKESTON - David and Sue Ziegenhorn, co-owners of Garage Door Co. of Sikeston, were the guests of Clopay Building Products at its seventh annual Authorized Dealer Conference in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The Ziegenhorns were among more than 175 Clopay Authorized dealers attending the conference.
