Speakout 5/29

Looking for information on class of 75's 30-year reunion. Would like to find out who to contact. Thanks for any information provided. Please contact me at psebowbend@aol.com.

Let me get this right. You saw a truck come by your house doing between 90 and 100 mph and you got the licence number. Not only do you have radar that detects speed, but you have eyes better than the "Hubble" sattelite.

There is a pretty Siamese cat hanging around the block of 300 Harrison Street in Miner. If you have lost this cat, I wish you would come look for it. Otherwise I'm going to find out if it has nine lives, if it does not stay off my car. Please come get your cat.

This is to the person calling in about Wal-Mart donating money to Lilbourn. I've never been to Lilbourn, but I know where it is. Why shouldn't they give money to the Lilbourn school? Do the people in Sikeston think all the schools are in Sikeston, only Sikeston people shop in Wal-Mart? I think people from all the little towns in Missouri shop in Sikeston. So why shouldn't Wal-Mart give money to the other schools? Another thing that really frosted me. I don't understand the grandmother who worried about the granddaughter who accidentally had a baby. I'll tell you what I'll bet that girl has already accidentally filed for child support and ADC or something. And I'll bet you that the mother, grandmother and the great-grandmother all accidentally had babies and they are probably living on ADC these years and none of them are working. That might explain about her getting pregnant. I don't know if that girl isn't getting a check like the rest of them now.

Our downtown is not congested. Things are doing fine. What we need is the stores to open before 10 o'clock and close after 5 o'clock. Then if you want to get up in the morning and get something, they are not open. Half are not open on Mondays or Saturdays. What we need is stores that stay open. I don't think we need another one-way street here.

This is in regard to the "Graduation gimmes" in Speakout on Sunday. You gripe about not getting a ticket. The school only gives you 10 tickets. By the time both parents go, both sets of grandparents go and if there are any siblings, you don't have any extra tickets. It is not the parents' fault, or the students' fault. It is the school's fault. Maybe the reason they are sending you the announcement is to let them know, "Hey, we have graduated." It doesn't necessarily mean a gift or they want a gift. They are trying to be polite and letting everyone who knows them that they have graduated. Give them the benefit of the doubt. Check you facts before you open your mouth.
