Shooting suspects named
CARUTHERSVILLE -- Charges were filed against the two men in connection with an armed robbery and the shooting of a Pemiscot Sheriff's Department employee.
Anthony Harold Flint, 32, of Cape Girardeau, was charged by Pemiscot County Prosecutor Michael B. Hazel with first degree robbery, first degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. The other suspect, James H. Thompson Jr., 29, of Cape Girardeau, was charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Both are being held without bond in the Pemiscot County Jail. Arraignment is set for Monday.
The two are charged in connection with the robbery of America's Cash Advance in Caruthersville. An off-duty officer, Jack Owens, 44, who works in the Communications Department of the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, apparently attempted to unarm the subjects and was shot.
According to a news release, Owens is recovering from surgery at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
America's Cash Advance has been closed since the incident and will reopen Monday.
