BENTON -- An Scott County man was arrested on drug-related charges early Wednesday, after a Sheriff's Emergency Response Tactics Team entered and served a warrant at the suspect's residence.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reported Ricky A. King, 39, of 603 Warner St. in Oran, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Scott County Jail at Benton in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

Walter said this is the second time in as many weeks that search warrants served in Oran have resulted in controlled substances seized and arrests made.

On Sept. 8, an entry was made and a search warrant served at 105 Ada St. in Oran. Controlled substance and paraphernalia were seized, and warrants are pending at the prosecutor's office.

In another related drug incident, Walter said the increased patrol after midnight, an alert deputy and a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of 46-year-

old Kevin McClendon of Sikeston and the seizure of about four grams of crystal methamphetamine and over $1,300.

While patrolling the southwest part of the county shortly after midnight Sept. 16, patrol sergeant Steve Young saw a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner and stopped the driver to investigate. During the course of investigation, McClendon gave Young permission to search his vehicle and that search yielded the controlled substance and money.

McClendon, who also admitted to being on federal probation, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and subsequently posted a $7,500 bond to appear Nov. 2 before Judge David C. Mann.
