SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. George Wright of Sikeston are the parents of a girl born Dec. 28.

SIKESTON - A seven member industrial development council was appointed to administer $42,000 to be paid the city by Anchor Toy Corporation Tuesday at the Tuesday night meeting of the Sikeston City Council.

SIKESTON - The newly opened Delta Counties Bank in Sikeston recently made a $50 donation to the Sikeston freshman cheerleaders to go toward expenses for their trip to Dallas to participate in the National Cheerleading Association's National High School Cheerleading Championships.


SIKESTON - The world has changed since Dorothy Johnson started her career with the state. She is now an employment security technician for the Division of Employment Security, a department she has labored in since 1969. She retires from service today. "I am retiring while I can still enjoy my life, while I have my health," said Mrs. Johnson.


EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie Cub Scout Pack 37 was one of several benefactors from Tau Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. A $25 donation was made recently to the pack and was accepted by Scoutmaster Eugenia Cogdill.

SIKESTON - The new year will bring in new license plate requirements for 1998. All Missouri motorists will be required to show proof of insurance before plates will be issued, and commercial vehicle owners have until Feb. 28 to renew their plates.


MATTHEWS - Five area residents are in jail after authorities discovered a methamphetamine lab at a residence on Highway FF near Matthews.
