WEST PLAINS -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs blanked the host West Plains Lady Zizzers 3-0 in the Lady Zizzers Soccer Tournament on Friday. WEST PLAINS -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs blanked the host West Plains Lady Zizzers 3-0 in the Lady Zizzers Soccer Tournament on Friday.

The Bulldogs, seeded No. 3, scored all their goals in the first half against the sixth-seeded Zizzers.

Alli son Blurton opened the scoring with a goal off an assist from Abbi Keefer at the 20-minute mark.

Ten minutes later, Keefer netted a shot with an assist from Jennifer Millington, then at the 34-minute mark, Jordi Ferrell scored off an assist by Blurton.

"Even though we hit three goals in the first half, I thought we played better the second half," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "Overall, I thought we were in sync and played well together."

Sikeston (6-7) outshot West Plains 21-8 as goalie Paige Silverthorn recorded the shutout.

The Lady 'Dogs met No. 2-seed Jonesboro (Ark.) on Saturday at 11 a.m. Jonesboro was an 8-0 winner over Parkview of Springfield on Friday.
