CHARLESTON - Beatrice Mary Baudendistel, 95, died at 1:05 a.m. Feb. 12, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 7, 1910, in the Highland Community, near Perryville, to the late Henry Louis and Appie Unterriener Renaud, the oldest of eight children, she moved with her family as a young girl to the Texas Bend Community north of Charleston in 1918. Having lived most of her life in Charleston, she was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church and was an active member in numerous church organizations, including the Daughters of Isabella and the Legion of Mary, where she held several offices of the local organization where she had been a member since 1959.
A founding member of the St. Henry's Quilting Club, she enjoyed this hobby for many years and carried her love for sewing into the community as she served as a 4-H leader, teaching many young girls the art of sewing. A skilled seamstress, her grandchildren thought she could make just about anything. A member and past president of the Texas Bend Extension Club, she also enjoyed gardening and flower arranging.
On May 29, 1933, she married Frank Joseph Baudendistel, who preceded her in death on June 9, 1974.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jack Whiteside of Charleston; two daughters-in-law, Doris Baudendistel of Jackson and Georgia Baudendistel of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Harold Renaud of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Gertrude Stricker of Charleston, Catherine Pottinger of Dallas and Mabel Tenkhoff of Oran; three grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Matt and Bascha Whiteside of St. Louis, Ryan and Saundra Whiteside of Ripley, Tenn., and Billy Ray and Amy Baudendistel of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jana Whiteside and John Russo of Fenton; four great-grandchildren, Drew and Regan Whiteside of Ripley, Carter Russo of Fenton and Carson Brey Baudendistel of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ray Edward Baudendistel on June 21, 1999; two brothers, Delbert Renaud and Henry Renaud; and one sister, Mildred Renaud.
Family and friends may gather for a celebration of Beatrice Baudendistel's life from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston with the Rev. Scott Sunnenberg serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery near Charleston, under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Billy Ray Baudendistel, Matt Whiteside, Ryan Whiteside, John Russo, Doug Simmons, Mike Renaud, Brian Renaud, Robert Renaud.
