SIKESTON - A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Allen of Sikeston Aug. 13 at the local hospital.

40 years ago

MOREHOUSE - The Delmo Community Action program held a meeting at the community center in south Morehouse. Leaders were present from the 10 Delmo centers together with five volunteers in Service to America.

SPRINGFIELD - What began as an extremely promising weekend for the Southeast Missouri men's fast-pitch softball teams in the Major State Tournament here didn't quite turn out that way. Ferrell Mobile Homes and Kelso Supply, who each had won their first two games of the tournament of Friday, were both later eliminated from contention for one of the top three spots and the regional tournament berth that goes with them.

SIKESTON - The Junior Miss Heartland competition was held July 29 at Glennonville. Brooke McDonald, 14-year-old daughter of Duke and Pat McDonald of Sikeston, was crowned queen. First runner-up was Lindsey Modlin, 12-year-old daughter of Dennis and Emily Modlin of Campbell. Second runner-up was Heather Creasy, 13-year-old daughter of Raymond and Jackie Creasy of Lilbourn.


SIKESTON - Stacie Lambert, daughter of Marilyn Lambert and Doug Lambert of Sikeston, was awarded the 1995-96 Life Underwriters Annual Scholarship. Ms. Lambert plans to attend Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield this fall. She was presented the award by Susan James, president of the Sikeston Life Underwriters Association; Jim Hulen and Ron Williams, both Life Underwriter Members.
