JACKSON, Tenn. - Clara Janeice Ayers, 72, formerly of Bertrand, Mo., died at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 15, 2005, at her home.
Born Nov. 4, 1932, in Bertrand, daughter to the late Raymond Clay and Leota Mae Baker Layne, she had lived most of her life in Bertrand. She was a member of Cornerstone Church, where she served as the church pianist for many years. Upon her retirement from the East Prairie Manufacturing Co., she moved to Jackson, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
On April 23, 1953, she married Elza Ayers who preceded her in death on April 28, l997.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Monty Wayne and Tammy Ayers of Jackson; one sister, Cassie Groves of Pueblo, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Clay Ayers, Joshua Ayers and Caleb Ayers.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gay Layne Carney.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McMikle Funeral Home at Charleston, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. Larry Kirby and Clint Kirby will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
Pallbearers will be: Ted Martin, Don Medlin, Keith Coots, Danny Marshall, Robert Crosier Sr. and Robert Crosier Jr.
