CHAFFEE -- Robert J. Stafford, 77, died at 6:50 a.m. Sept. 20, 2005, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 29, 1927, at Silverdale, son of the late Robert and Ethel Cox Stafford, he was a retired laborer for Bob's Lawn Service for many years, had also worked for Columbia Construction Company in Cape Girardeau, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Aug. 1, 1964, he married Ines Lee Purdom who preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 1999.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Randy Stafford; and four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son, Don Stafford of the state of Pennsylvania; one daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and David Petitt of Chaffee; one sister, Ruth Allwood of Chaffee; five grandchildren, April Stafford, David Petitt II and Sara Petitt of Chaffee, Josh Petitt of Delta and Jamie Stafford of Pennsylvania; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. C.B. Stidham officiating.
Burial will follow in the Union Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Charlie Hindman, Zach Hindman, Dennis Rose and Terry Pobst.
