Sonny Rister

CHAFFEE - Charles "Sonny" Rister, 68, died at 6 a.m. Jan. 17, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 29, 1937, in Chaffee, son of the late Arlie Otis and Dora Mildred Stidham Rister Sr., he was a security guard for Security Services of America in Chaffee and worked from 1959 until retirement in 1980 as a brakeman for Cotton Belt Railroad in Scott City. He was a member of UTU, C.B. Club and Calvary Baptist Church in Chaffee, where he was a trustee and served on the executive board.

On Aug. 12, 1961, he married JoAnn Hunsaker, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Jerry Wayne Hahn of Kelso and Mark Douglas Rister of Millersville; one daughter, Tracey Diane Rister of Sedgewickville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is at 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow in Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee.
