BENTON, Ky. -- Norris Ray Grissom, 63, formerly of Mississippi County (Mo.), died at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 13, 2005, in the Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray.
Born June 15, 1942, son of Gollie Grissom of Gideon and the late Lois Grissom, he was a former Mississippi County Sheriff and was with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 15 years. He also sold insurance for Mass Mutual and was a radio vendor.
He married Patsy Phelps who survives of the home.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by: one son, Shane Grissom of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three stepsons, Jimmy Ferguson of Dawson Springs, George Woodbrey of Benton and Jon Lambert of Calvert City; three daughters, Rayla Grissom of Bertrand, Mo., Malissa Ann Fitzgerald of Wyatt, Mo., and Kimberly Steele of Fairdealing; three stepdaughters, Jeanette Joseph, Starla Woodbrey and Peggy Duncan of Benton; three brothers, Bobby Grissom and Jerry Grissom of Gideon, Mo., and Larry Grissom of Steele, Mo.; and five grandchildren and 11 stepgrandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. today at Collier Funeral Chapel in Benton with Lexie B. Ray officiating.
