BENTON -- A 44-year-old Benton man is in jail following an armed robbery at Express Fuel late Wednesday near Benton.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, the suspect, whose name will be released after charges are filed later today, entered the business about 9:

30 p.m. and indicated to employees he had a weapon, and then demanded cash. The man fled the scene on foot with a quantity of money, and the sheriff's department was called.

A manhunt by deputies, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and the sheriff's search dog team fanned out over the nearby fields and residential area and resulted in the suspect's arrest and the recovery of the money at 10:

57 p.m.

The suspect, who is being held in the Scott County Jail, is facing charges of armed robbery, armed criminal action and first degree assault.
