SIKESTON - Southern Missouri Bank has opened its offices at 1205 S. Main St.
"While we're the newest bank in Sikeston, we were founded in 1887, making us the oldest bank in Southeast Missouri," said Greg Steffens, Southern Missouri Bank's president and CEO. "We've grown and expanded by offering our customers what we call 'Southern hospitality.' For example, we not only offer people high rates, like our 4.51 annual percentage yield on money market accounts over $10,000, we give customers a free apple pie from Susie's Bake Shop and Restaurant when they open one."
The bank conducted an open house last week to introduce the staff and the bank to the public.
"We know the importance of great people and we have an experienced local lender in Terry Williams," said Steffens. "He can offer customers home loans, car loans as well as ag and business loans."
Williams, who will serve as community bank president of the Sikeston office, will be joined by Sikeston native Tera Kelley, customer services manager; Sheila Wilson, loan coordinator; Renee Nelson, customer service representative; and Kristi Whitehead and Cheri Moore, tellers.
Southern Missouri Bank is the only Southeast Missouri bank that is publicly traded, listed on NASDAQ under the symbol "SMBC," which allows customers to invest in their bank.
In addition to the office in Sikeston, the bank has three locations in Poplar Bluff plus banks in Dexter, Kennett, Van Buren, Quilin and Doniphan. The bank has over $340 million in assets and over 90 full-time employees.
