BERTRAND -- Susan Simpson Horner, 87, died Nov. 30 , 2005, at the Bertrand Retirement Home in Bertrand.

Born Aug. 7, 1918, in Waverly, Tenn., daughter of the late Walter Orlando and Annie Hailey Simpson, she was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and Retired Teachers Association. She attended two years at Austin-Peay and graduated from Southeast Missouri Teachers College in 1958. She had been a school teacher for the public schools in Humphreies County, Tenn., Sikeston and Charleston before retiring.

On Dec. 24, 1942, she married John T. Horner who survives of the home in Bertrand.

Other survivors include: one son and his friend, John Horner II and Tana Regnier of Cape Girardeau; and one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Ray Moland of Peoria, Ill.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. John Hester, lead minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ and Pat Hogan, associate pastor of Shady Acres Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
