Bulldog wrestlers fall in first match of season
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team dropped the first match of the year at home to the Poplar Bluff Mules, 55-18.
Nick DeLaRosa and Josh Northern both won by pin for the Bulldogs and Gavilan Bland won his match by forfeit for Sikeston's points.
In the junior varsity match, Nick Lopez and Dominic Lopez won matches for Sikeston.
The Bulldogs are back in action Tuesday at home against the Farmington Knights at 6:30 p.m.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Portageville Lady Bulldogs basketball team won at home on Tuesday night defeating the Malden Lady Wave, 75-38.
Portageville led 48-26 at the half and earned their second win in as many nights. On Monday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Scott City on the road.
The Lady Bulldogs had three players reach double digits led by senior Hannah Rone who poured in 22 points. Junior Kellye Penn totaled 20 points and sophomore Brittney Walker had a solid performance with 10 points and 13 rebounds for Portageville.
Mallory Bidewell and Jeleea Drake each chipped in seven points apiece for the Lady Bulldogs.
