NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central eighth grade football team dominated the Caruthersville Tigers 14-0 Tuesday afternoon in a battle of undefeated teams. NMCC lost to Caruthersville last season as seventh graders and the Tigers appeared to be the favorite again this year. However, NMCC's Lorenzo Hill had other plans.
Hill scored on a powerful three yard run and added a conversion from quarterback Kyle Harris, while dominating defensively as well, recovering a fumble and intercepting a Caruthersville pass. The Eagles' Lamonte Nelson added a score from eight yards out while Mycah Newson also had a solid defensive game, falling on a fumble recovery.
NMCC is now 3-0, and will host Charleston on Thursday.
