SIKESTON - A mustard plant with tremendous wing spread was exhibited at The Daily Standard office Friday by O.K. Kiser, 205 Kiwainis St. He grew the plant in his garden. There were nine leaves measuring from 16 to 18 inches in length from the stem.

MATTHEWS - Tommy Hicks of Matthews scored one third of Matthews' points last night when they captured North Pemiscot 60-55. Matthews had three players in the double figures.
SIKESTON - The regular monthly meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission was conducted Tuesday night in the council chambers at the city municipal building in Sikeston. A major part of the discussion at this meeting concerned a recent request by Frank Ferrell, who had previously requested to rezone a portion of his property.
SIKESTON - Market Place in Sikeston conducted the fifth Annual Turkey Bowl sponsored by Pepsi. Several shoppers stopped by and tried to bowl the frozen turkey. Also, they were able to register to win several different prizes including art kits, toys, six turkeys, hats, video and a $100 grand prize.
