SIKESTON - Billy Hunter, Boy Scout Troop 44, was awarded the Golden Eagle at the Sikeston district held at the high school Monday night. The award is for his outstanding performance.
SIKESTON - The harvest in Mississippi, Scott, Stoddard and New Madrid counties will pass the next critical stage in the next 10 days. The cotton harvest will lose the most if the weather prevails. The soybean harvest is another crop in danger. If the frost is held off another two weeks, the late planted crop will have time to mature.

SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston is bringing more sophisticated levels of care to the community with the opening of the Skilled Nursing Unit. The Unit, an independent wing of the hospital, exists for the patient who is well enough to come out of the regular acute care part of the hospital, yet not ready to be discharged to a home situation with no medical care.
SIKESTON - The Department of Public Safety will be conducting training exercises in the lake area of the recreational complex all day Wednesday. Users of the lake and fitness trail are advised that the area will be congested and that they should postpone their activity in the area for the one day training session.

SIKESTON - The Missouri Delta Medical Center 1995 Benefit Ball is set for Saturday at the National Guard Armory with the theme "Camelot." The cost is $125 per couple, $175 per couple for patrons.
